Sound Wall Update from Department of Highways

I wanted to give you an update with the latest information on the soundwall. The bids were opened Friday, September 27th. The low bidder was Louisville Paving and their bid was $2,638,500. This is good news because it will allow us to go ahead and build the complete wall all the way to the existing wall on I-64. The contract has not been officially awarded yet so nothing is official, but there is nothing that leads me to believe that everything will not be ok. The contractor has to submit some standard paperwork in to Frankfort before they can get the project awarded to them.

The contract has a set completion date of July 1st 2014. I have no idea at this point when they may get started. Until they get the award and they set up a pre-construction meeting we will not know that information. The finish will match as closely as possible the existing wall on I-64 near Oxmoor. That is all I know for now. I will give you updates periodically.

Thanks,

Matt Bullock, PE
Chief District Engineer
Department of Highways - District 5
