May 2020 Mayor Report

Dear Citizens,

There is no other way to say this. We are living in a strange and unprecedented time. With that being said, we all have to make adjustments to work together for one another’s safety and good. There are a few processes that have already changed or will change immediately. Our April
Council meeting was the first meeting that I know of that the City has ever held virtually. Our meetings will continue  his way until we mention otherwise. Here is the official notice:

Due to the COVID 19 health emergency, the City of St. Regis Park is conducting its regular City Council meetings via video teleconference. This is occurring under the authority of Kentucky Revised Statutes Section 61.826 and the orders of the Governor of Kentucky. Residents and news media may view the video teleconference meeting and the l

Other News - Obviously, we had to cancel the Easter Egg Hunt as I discussed in last month’s newsletter. However, thanks to Chris Baer driving the Easter Bunny (Branden Baer) around, many children and adults were able to wave at the Easter Bunny and make the most of the situation. I heard from several citizens how it was a really nice gesture and lifted their spirits. Thanks again Chris and Branden Baer!

Next, it has been brought to my attention that people have been standing at the creek on Mt. Vernon and Dannywood and touching the railings while enjoying the outdoors. While we appreciate everyone getting outside and walking, please make sure not to touch the railings at the creek. Since they are metal, I believe that the Coronavirus can live on the railings for 5 days. Not touching the railings would help all of us be that much safer and help prevent the spread of the virus. Also, I would like to encourage everyone to maintain their 6 feet of social distance. I know it is difficult, but while out and about, please make sure to wave, say hello and even have conversation…but please make sure to do it from 6 feet or greater distance. I have seen several groups of people while walking stop to chat with neighbors and it did not appear that enough distance was given. Again, let’s all do our part.

Lastly, as mentioned in last month’s newsletter, the annual Arbor Day celebration has been postponed util this fall.  As of now, we are hopeful that we will be able to have the First Annual St. Regis Park Bats Day where we enjoy the Bats play baseball. However, we will just have to wait and see as things evolve closer to June.

Remember, the City of St. Regis Park is a great place to live. Together, we will make it even better!

Sincerely,
Brandt Davis, Mayor

Here's your invitation:

Register in advance for this meeting:  Zoom Meeting Link

After registering, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the meeting.

Obviously, we had to cancel the Easter Egg Hunt as I discussed in last month’s newsletter. April 2020 Mayor Report

Dear Residents,

I hope this finds all of you doing well and being safe! What a turn of events. Upon writing my first draft of this Mayor’s letter one and a half weeks ago, I was planning on making sure you had your calendars marked for the Easter Egg Hunt and the Arbor Day Celebration. Now, my only concern is for everyone’s safety and wellbeing during this Pandemic and practicing good social distancing. With that being said, we have decided to cancel the Easter Egg Hunt and postpone the Arbor Day Celebration till fall. We are hopeful that the Coronavirus will be behind us in the next month or two, so we are leaving our plans in place for the St. Regis Park day at the Bats game on Sunday, June 7th. Obviously, if things aren’t better by then, that would need to be rescheduled as well.

There are a handful of citizens that have volunteered to run errands (grocery, pharmacy, etc.) for other citizens if someone can’t or doesn’t feel comfortable going out during this crisis. Please call the city at 502-654-8145 and leave a message on the recorded line or send an email to stregispark@gmail.com. If you have a true emergency, call 911. Councilman Craig Theis put this information out today via REACH Alert, while Councilwoman Cheryl Willet included it on her Blockwatch email and Councilman DJ Fountain put it on Facebook. I am SO thankful for all three of those communication options. They can get timely, valuable information into your hands much quicker than this newsletter. If you aren’t signed up for Reach Alert, Blockwatch Email, or Facebook, please contact city hall at the phone number and/or email listed above and we’ll make sure we reach out to help you get that accomplished.

Last, but not least, as of now, we are planning on holding the April City Council meeting on Tuesday April 7th, 7:00 PM via Video Conferencing only. Obviously, things are changing daily and we are in unprecedented times. So, if we need to cancel the April meeting as the time gets closer, we will reach out via Reach Alert, Blockwatch Email and Facebook, since there won’t be another newsletter between now and then.

We will continue to monitor the situation and communicate early and often regarding any updated information we receive.

Remember, the City of St. Regis Park is a great place to live. Together, we will make it even better!

Sincerely,
Brandt Davis, Mayor

March 2020 Mayor Report

Dear Citizens:
I hope this finds all of you doing well. There isn’t anything to report on. However, there are 2 dates I would like to remind you about.

First, our annual St. Regis Park Easter Egg hunt will be on April 4th at 10:00 a.m. at Ascension Football Field. We are grateful for Ascension allowing us to have it there. This will allow us to have ample parking, plenty of open space for the Easter egg hunt and a playground if children desire to play. Please make sure to bring your cameras for pictures with the Easter Bunny.

Second, our first annual City of St. Regis Park Bats Day at Slugger Field will be on Sunday June 7th. Please see attached insert. The Louisville Bats take on the Durham Bulls that day at 2:00 p.m. Each resident may request up to six (6) free tickets per household and we ask that these tickets be used only for family members that claim residence in St. Regis Park. Again, please see attached insert for directions on how to claim your tickets. THE DEADLINE TO SUBMIT YOUR REQUEST WILL BE TUESDAY APRIL 7, 2020.

Remember, the City of St. Regis Park is a great place to live. Together, we will make it even better!

Sincerely,

Brandt Davis, Mayor

February 2020 Mayor Report

Dear Citizens:

It seems like it just turned 2020 and it will already be about February when this newsletter finds you. As usual, a consistent theme while typing these newsletters is how quickly time passes. Luckily so far we haven’t had horrible weather this winter. So, we’ve been able to save money by not having to plow or salt the roads. Hopefully, that trend will continue and we can make it until spring without any major winter storms. However, I am sure some of the children in our community wouldn’t mind a little snow to play in.

With spring approaching, the Tree Board has let us know that so far, our city has planted 267 trees and another 14 are planned to go in the ground very soon. That is super exciting news! It truly feels like the “Re-Tree the Park Campaign” is well under way.

As I mentioned last month, Jane Ecker is stepping down from her role on the Tree Board. If you are interested in filling her position, please see the “Branching Out” feature in this newsletter to view the job description. We would love to have another citizen join the team and help keep our city beautiful and shady for generations to come!

Last, but not least, as spring and summer approaches, please be on the look out for an announcement concerning a St. Regis Park night at the Ballpark. We plan on hosting an event at Louisville Slugger Field where St. Regis Park families may come and enjoy themselves with neighbors while watching the River Bats.

Remember, the City of St. Regis Park is a great place to live. Together, we will make it even better!

Sincerely,

Brandt Davis, Mayor
