Dear Citizens,
There is no other way to say this. We are living in a strange and unprecedented time. With that being said, we all have to make adjustments to work together for one another’s safety and good. There are a few processes that have already changed or will change immediately. Our April Council meeting was the first meeting that I know of that the City has ever held virtually. Our meetings will continue this way until we mention otherwise. Here’s the official notice:
Due to the COVID 19 health emergency, the City of St. Regis Park is conducting its regular City Council meetings via video teleconference. This is occurring under the authority of Kentucky Revised Statutes Section 61.826 and the orders of the Governor of Kentucky. Residents and news media may view the video teleconference meeting and the log-in information for each meeting will be posted and distributed, so that any person or member of the media wanting to participate may participate.
Here's your invitation:
You are invited to the St. Regis Park City Council meeting being held via the “Zoom” conferencing app on Tuesday, May 5, 2020 at 7:00 PM.
Register in advance for this meeting: Zoom Meeting Link
After registering, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the meeting.
Obviously, we had to cancel the Easter Egg Hunt as I discussed in last month’s newsletter. However, thanks to Chris Baer driving the Easter Bunny (Branden Baer) around, many children and adults were able to wave at the Easter Bunny and make the most of the situation. I heard from several citizens how it was a really nice gesture and lifted their spirits. Thanks again Chris and Branden Baer!
Next, it has been brought to my attention that people have been standing at the creek on Mt. Vernon and Dannywood and touching the railings while enjoying the outdoors. While we appreciate everyone getting outside and walking, please make sure not to touch the railings at the creek. Since they are metal, I believe that the Coronavirus can live on the railings for 5 days. Not touching the railings would help all of us be that much safer and help prevent the spread of the virus. Also, I would like to encourage everyone to maintain their 6 feet of social distance. I know it is difficult, but while out and about, please make sure to wave, say hello and even have conversation…but please make sure to do it from 6 feet or greater distance. I have seen several groups of people while walking stop to chat with neighbors and it did not appear that enough distance was given. Again, let’s all do our part.
Lastly, as mentioned in last month’s newsletter, the annual Arbor Day celebration has been postponed util this fall. As of now, we are hopeful that we will be able to have the First Annual St. Regis Park Bats Day where we enjoy the Bats play baseball. However, we will just have to wait and see as things evolve closer to June.
Remember, the City of St. Regis Park is a great place to live. Together, we will make it even better!
Sincerely,
Brandt Davis, Mayor
